The Magnet South Wales team from Tata Steel took on a 24-hour Everest climb over the Spring Bank Holiday weekend, in order to raise money for the Central Beacons Mountain Rescue team on their 50th Anniversary.
The challenge for the team was to collectively climb the height of Mount Everest (8,848m, 29,000ft) at Boulders climbing centre in Cardiff within 24-hours, requiring each member of the team to climb more than 100 routes each.
After months of training and preparation they smashed it and even had time left to take the total up to 10,000 metres – climbing more than the height of Everest and Snowdon combined!
Magnet would like to thank everyone who has supported them. The total raised from sponsorship, cake sales, dress down days and a sweets in the jar competition is £1,645 to date.
