The results for the fourth round of The Crucible bouldering competition are here: The Crucible bouldering competition round 4 scores.
Thank you to all who took part in the fourth round of The Crucible bouldering competition summer series. We aim to make each round bigger and better than ever before. Let us know what you thought about the problems by leaving us a comment below – did you like them and were they hard enough? The problems will stay up for a month, so if you need any beta, check out a couple of videos of Boulders’ senior climbing instructor Tym testing out white 12 and black 5 on the Boulders YouTube channel.
The aim of The Crucible is to test Cardiff’s bouldering community, but also to be fun and provide a great reason for us all to meet up and climb together. Competitors of all ages and abilities are welcome to compete – whether you’re a V14 climbing beast, or new to the sport, each round is designed with you in mind. The categories are: adult male, adult female, junior male and junior female.
The Grand Final will take place on Saturday 7th September and to qualify you’ll have to have taken part in a minimum of two rounds. Vouchers from the Boulders online shop are up for grabs and the prizes aren’t limited to just the strongest climbers, as there will be recognition of improvement through the rounds, as well as fun random spot prizes.
The Grand Final will start at 10am and the prize giving at 5pm. Anyone is welcome to enter on the day, but depending on your results from previous rounds individuals will only be eligible for specific categories. The results from all of the four rounds will be published on Tuesday 27th August. Those who have placed in the top positions will qualify for the ‘elite’ category of The Crucible final on 7th September. Everybody else is welcome to enter the ‘open’ category.
There is no extra cost to enter into the Grand Final – just pay your normal entrance fee to the centre. Boulders will be open as normal on the 7th, so you’re most welcome to come down and watch the competition.
