Last week we published news of a volunteer coaching program that will be starting over September 2013. We hoped that by making an investment in and training some of our customer you’d help us build a better climbing community. If you missed the news, don’t worry, we’re still taking applications and you can find out all about it by reading the Boulders needs climbing coaches article.
The good news is we’ve been inundated with some really enthusiastic, good quality applications. This is fantastic and bodes really well for the future abilities of the South Wales climbing community. In fact we’ve had so many applications we have decided to confirm the number of climbing club coach positions at the maximum level we were going to allow it to grow to. That means very soon we’ll be opening a fourth Climbing Club on a Tuesday night, which means one for every weekday evening!
To get the ball moving we need to set a closing date for applications. These will be as follows for each position:
Midday, Friday 6th September:
Assistant Academy Coaches, Groups 2 and 3 (two positions)
Assistant Academy Coaches, Group 1 (one position)
Midday, Friday 13th September:
Climbing Club Coach (four positions)
The Project Youth Club Leader (one position)
As soon as we’ve hit the closing dates for the various roles, we’ll contact successful applicants for interviews in the following week. Following the interviews, we’ll then get in touch with the people we want to invest in and start training them straight away.
For those of you that are applying here are a couple of key dates you’ll need to attend on successfully being accepted onto the program:
Coaching Workshop #1 28th September, 10am-6pm.
CWA(T): 5th and 6th October, 10am-6pm both days.
If you want to apply for the program, get in touch with us now. Let us know which position you’d be keen to fill and why you want to be involved.
If you haven’t done this sort of thing before don’t worry, we still want to see your application. It takes all sorts and the best, most competent climbers aren’t necessarily the best people to help other become better climbers.
Hope to hear from you soon, The Boulders Team
