This July we were lucky enough to head out to Outdoor in Friedrichshafen, Germany, for Outdoor 2014, the largest trade show of outdoor equipment in Europe.
Over the next couple of weeks we’ll be bringing you videos of the latest gear, which will be hitting the shelves next spring.
First off, belay devices from DMM. It’s been a while since we saw anything new on the belay front from the Welsh climbing gear manufacturer, but it looks like it’s been worth the wait. Check them out:
The Pivot is a new take on the guide-mode belay device, which incorporates a hinge to allow for smoother lowering of seconds in guide-mode.
The Grip is a standard single rope belay device with extra bite! Under load, the device clamps the rope against the karabiner to provide extra braking force but when the load is released magnets click it back into shape to allow for super smooth belaying.
The Mantis is a compact, lightweight belay device for single or twin/half rope belaying. No groundbreaking new features here but it’s a great looking device that is bound to perform.
