Tom Randall has just released a blog post detailing his successful ascent of a long-term roof crack project at Dinas Rock near Neath.
Naming it Dina Crac and giving it the British grade of E9 7a, Tom puts it somewhere in between the world famous lines of the Cobra Crack and Greenspit in terms of difficulty, making it the hardest trad line in South Wales.
Some of the Boulders crew were lucky enough to be there this weekend to witness Tom finally crushing the route, which features wild moves through an 80 degree roof crack followed by some truly inventive climbing to pull over the lip and finished off with 30ft of hard groove climbing. Our own assistant coach Kim Davies even gets a photo credit on Tom’s blog!
We can only wonder whether more big names will be making their way to Dinas in years to come to tick this truly amazing route.
