Climbing Club

Boulders Climbing club  is here to help you connect to other climbers, do some basic coaching to start improving your climbing ability, technique, confidence and grades. As well as nurturing the confidence to eventually venture outdoors, while encouraging that great social aspect of the sport that reaches beyond the walls of Boulders.

The club nights are run by our friendly volunteer coaches every weekday evening, every week and are absolutely free to attend.  Just pay your normal entrance, and join the club!

The club nights are perfect if you’ve just finished your Climbing course introduction or you haven’t been climbing in a while and are eager to get back into it. If you want to join in and hook up with some new climbing buddies, just come along to any evening. Take a look at the Facebook group, Boulders Climbing Club, to see what they’re up to tonight.

The club’s first role is to act as a social club where people can come together, make new friends and find new climbing partners.  Each club night is run by one of our amazing volunteer coaches, these guys give up their time to help you guys get more out of climbing. Boulders has given these guys a basic foundation in climbing instruction and coaching, so if you’re new to the sport have a chat with these guys, you’ll soon pick up what all the strange words and phrases mean!  In addition these guys are great for helping you get more out of the Centre and your own climbing. They’ve got loads of top tips about how to train and how to use a climbing centre to get your grade moving in the right direction.

You can find out a bit more about each of our club coaches and which night they work from their profiles below.

Every summer we recruit brand new climbing club coaches, if you think you have what it takes to become a coach take a look at what these guys did to get involved and keep your eyes open for future opportunities. We’ll be recruiting in the Summer of 2014!

Tori: Monday

What better way to start your week than by getting on a wall. Climbing focuses the mind, shuts out other distractions, it’s fun and sociable and makes you feel great. You don’t have to climb high or far to experience the buzz of having found a solution to the crux. I’m here to help you make the most of your Monday nights at Boulders and to inspire the adventurer in you.

Favourite place to climb

My first love would have to be the Himalayas, it's sheer scale makes your jaw drop to the floor. In 2014, I'm planning to climb in my home county of Pembrokeshire on the spectacular sea cliffs. That way I can call in with mum and dad for a Sunday evening roast! Perfect day out.

Richard: Tuesday

I love climbing! And I believe anyone can climb 6c without the need for funny diets and extreme training routines. Come along to a coaching session, improve your technique and you’ll soon love climbing too.

Favourite place to climb

After Boulders, Blaenllechau - a nice little crag with just enough routes to keep you going on a sunny summer' s evening.

Rob: Wednesday

Welcome to your vertical home away from home. Whether you have just started climbing or have been “feeding the rat” for 20 years on trad, sport, aid, ice and big mountains like I have, you are warmly invited into our community.  We will climb with you inside, outside, outside-the-country and outside the bounds of decorum. Over and over again, I have seen people new to the community find the kind of climbing partners they can depend on at Boulders — for both friendship and adventure, as well as expertise, experience and stoke.

Favourite place to climb

The Gower…scary trad over wild flowers and pounding surf. What’s not to like?

Jess: Thursday

I will be at Boulders every Thursday night to help you improve your climbing, meet new people and just to have some fun. I have been climbing for 2 years now and absolutely love it! Whether it’s a bit of bouldering, top rope or some Trad. Indoors or outdoors, climbing is always social and great fun.

I started out knowing nothing about climbing so I know how a lot of you will be feeling. Ask me anything and I will help you out as best I can. I can’t wait to meet you all!

Favourite place to climb

My favourite place to climb is pretty much anywhere I can go with my friends, because I love to have fun! Although I did enjoy the Bouldering in Fontainebleau and the sport routes in Sella, Spain.

Mike: Friday

I’m proof that with good, friendly climbing partners and an encouraging environment climbing can have a huge positive effect on your life in so many different ways. If you’re climbing solo or already have a partner come down to a climbing club night and meet some great new people.

Favourite place to climb

The Trench at Ogmore. Great location with so much to explore. With a little imagination any skill level can find a route to work. Make sure you check the tide times before you go, it comes in very quickly so make sure you go at low tide.

Chantal: Cover (Every night!)

Climbing is one of my passions. A very enjoyable and social sport, that is also a fabulous all round workout. It’s an adventure / journey of self discovery that one takes, whereby you push and test your skill and ability. It can be hard at times and easy at others, but the rewards are worth it.

Anyone can climb, you need only put your mind to it and do it. I would like to see more people get involved and climb more both indoor and outdoors. Boulders climbing club is the first step in the right direction…. come be apart of something AWESOME.

Favourite place to climb

Indoor: Boulders of course - love the corner routes! Outdoor: Cheddar Gorge (unpolished routes) and Rhossili Bay, The Gower. Hopefully some places abroad soon.
