If you’ve only climbed indoors and are touching rock for the first time, or have tried it once or twice and want to gain some more experience top roping in a safe environment with a qualified instructor, then the ‘Outdoor Climbing Taster Day’ is for you.
What to expect:
This is a day of top roping and is aimed at those who want to have a go at climbing outdoors, so if you’re looking to learn how to lead this isn’t the right day for you (Have a look at our ‘Outdoor Climbing: Introduction to Sport Climbing’ Day instead!). You’ll experience a full day of climbing and gain confidence and experience, with someone on hand to help you make the transition from indoors to real rock.
There is no minimum grade requirement for the taster day; however we do ask that you are able to top rope belay so that everyone can get the most from their time at the crag.
Days will run from 10:00 until approximately 15:30/16:00. We ask that you make your own way to the Gower to meet us; we’ll confirm the exact location at a later date.
We’ll provide all safety equipment and ropes, however if you have your own harness and shoes please bring those with you. If not don’t worry, just let us know at the time of booking and we’ll make sure we take some for you. If you’re considering climbing outdoors, or indoors, more regularly then the Boulders shop has a great value DMM starter kit, with everything you need to get you started.
Lunch is not provided so please make sure you bring your own sandwiches, snacks and plenty of drinks as often we’ll be climbing in remote locations with no access to shops/cafes. You’ll also need to bring sun cream as a lot of the crags are very exposed.
The cost is £40 per person. All under 18’s will need to be accompanied by a paying adult for the entire day. Booking is essential as we expect the limited spaces to fill up quickly.
Outdoor taster days will be on every Saturday from 7th May 2016 until 27th August 2016.
Booking must be made in advance. To book either book at reception, call 02920 484880 or email firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject ‘Outdoor Day booking’
Spaces are limited so booking is essential to avoid disappointment.
