Getting the best climbing harness for your needs

There are a number of features and variables to consider when buying a new climbing harness including weight, adjustment, the number of gear loops, padding and comfort. First you need to consider what type of climbing you do most of, as many harnesses will carry special features taillored to particular climbing styles. For example if you climb a lot of multi-pitch routes then comfort maybe more important to you than weight. If sport climbing is your thing you may favour a lightweight harness rather than one with extra padding.
