Outdoor Climbing

We offer a range of exciting opportunities for people wanting to take the next step in their adventures and head outside. Whether you want to go Bouldering, Sport or Traditional climbing, we have a course, and an instructor waiting to give you the skills to enjoy the great outdoors safely and independently.

Outdoor Climbing Taster Day - Give climbing on real rock a go with one of our experienced team!

Intro to Sport Climbing - Take your indoor climbing skills outdoors with this educational session.

Intro to Trad Climbing - Two days of learning the ropes, this is the gateway to adventurous climbing.

Outdoor Bouldering - You won’t find iconic red mats at the bottom of an outdoor boulder, so learn how to best use a bouldering mat and have fun outside.







Outdoor Climbing Taster Day


Come and see what ‘real’ climbing is all about! Want to know what all the fuss is about?! Take your first steps outside and get to grips with some real rock.

What to expect?
The day runs 9:00am-15:30 with a short break for lunch.

You will meet your instructor at a carpark near the crag (to be decided on given weather/conditions etc). Please bring lunch, water, suitable clothing and any of your own climbing equipment (harness, shoes, chalk, helmet) - although all will be provided at no extra cost.

Necessary experience
To get the most out of the day it helps if all participants can belay. If you can’t please let us know on booking. No other skills or experience are required although most crags are at least a 15 minute walk from the road.

Intro to Sport Climbing -

Take your indoor skills outside! We’ll teach you everything you need to know from how to find a  crag to the dark art of threading a belay. We’ll cover gear, crag etiquette and what to do if things go wrong, giving you the skills and confidence to get out independently this summer.

What to expect?

Based at a local crag we’ll spend the day discussing a range of topics, practicing techniques and building on you knowledge. Confident indoor leaders can expect to get on the sharp end.

    • How to find a crag/route

    • Kit and knots

    • Clipstick use

    • Considerations for leading outside

    • Ethics

    • Movement

    • Threading an anchor

The day runs 9:00am-15:30 with a short break for lunch.

You will meet your instructor at a carpark near the crag (to be decided on given weather/conditions etc). Please bring lunch, water, suitable clothing and any of your own climbing equipment (harness, shoes, chalk, helmet) - although all will be provided at no extra cost. 

Necessary experience

All participants need to be confident indoor climbers. If you are concerned about your skills please contact us for a discussion prior to booking.

Intro to Trad climbing

Don’t know your friends from your nuts? This is the course for you! Gain the skills to get out and climb some of Britain’s most iconic routes this summer. Over the two days we’ll show you how to place and remove gear, build belays and bring up seconds. Top tips, tricks and knots will have you getting out and pushing yourselves in safety whilst enjoying the best climbing the UK has to offer.

What to expect?

We’ll cover:

    • Harness fitting and considerations for trad climbing

    • Racking gear - where and what

    • Building belays

    • Placing gear - where and when

    • Removing gear - do’s and don’ts

    • Climbing on double ropes! Why and how

    • Knots

    • Calls

    • Abseiling

    • Mock /first lead

Bouldering

Want to take your indoor Bouldering skills outside but don’t know where to start? Join us on our friendly intro day. We guide you through everything from navigating the guidebook, padding out the landing, spotting and getting off the top! We can provide everything from pads to shoes so all you need is enthusiasm (and some lunch!).

What to expect?

The day runs 10am-15:00 with a short break for lunch.

We’ll cover:

    • Finding a suitable climb

    • Padding it out

    • Safety considerations

    • Movement Techniques

    • Crag etiquette

You will meet your instructor at a carpark near the crag (to be decided on given weather/conditions etc). Please bring lunch, water, suitable clothing and any of your own climbing equipment (shoes, chalk) - although all will be provided at no extra cost. 

Necessary experience

Being a keen indoor boulderer is all the experience you need!
