Mystery Shopper Programme

Try our “Give It A Go” climbing sessions for free and help us improve the experience.

We’re looking for people to visit Boulders in either Cardiff or Cheltenham as “mystery shoppers” – taking part in a session just like a normal customer, then giving us honest feedback afterwards.

What is a Mystery Shopper?

As a mystery shopper, you’ll attend one of our instructor-led Give It A Go (GIAG) sessions and experience everything exactly as a customer would.

  • You’ll book in normally (using a special code) & follow the normal booking process

  • The team won’t know you’re part of the programme

  • After your session, you’ll complete a short feedback questionnaire

Your insights help us improve coaching, customer experience, and how we support new climbers.

What You Get

  • ✅ Free session (up to 3 spaces – so you can bring friends or family)

  • ✅ Optional free follow-up session if you’d like to continue - reimbursed after attendance

  • ✅ A fun, friendly introduction to climbing

There’s no obligation to return after your visit – but if you do, we offer a discount on the first month’s membership.

What You’ll Do

  • Attend a Give It A Go session (about 1 hour)

  • Complete booking, registration and arrival process like a normal customer

  • Take part in the coached session

  • Fill in a short feedback form after your visit. Click HERE for the form

  • Provide a 5* Google review

  • & hopefully, refer us to other who might also love it!

Total time commitment: under 2 hours.

Session Types Available

We run three types of sessions:

Adults (16+)

  • Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday

  • 7:30pm – 8:30pm

Kids (Ages 7–14)

  • Saturday

  • 11:20am – 12:20pm

Family Sessions (Adults & Kids 7+)

  • Saturday

  • 2:00pm – 3:00pm

  • 3:30pm – 4:30pm

Who Can Take Part?

  • Anyone aged 7+

  • Individuals, friends, or families

  • Groups of up to 3 people per booking

  • Ideally, participants should be new to Boulders and/or climbing, so they can experience the session with fresh eyes. However, this isn’t essential—we simply want to avoid anyone who is likely to be recognised by our team.

How It Works

  1. Join the mailing list to register your interest

  2. We’ll send you details and availability when we’re in need of Shoppers

  3. Book onto a session using a special code (free booking)

  4. Attend your session as a regular customer

  5. Complete the feedback form afterwards

What We’re Looking For

We’re especially interested in understanding:

  • How well our team explains next steps (clubs, progression, etc.) This is where we are placing a lot of time and training at the moment. Do you, as someone new to climbing, understand how to take it further if you want to?

Also important to us:

  • First impressions and welcome experience

  • Quality of coaching and session structure

  • Overall enjoyment and likelihood to return or recommend
